Sleep Cycle

Deliverables: Sleeping Aid story

“Forget everything you know about storytelling” I was told, when first meeting Sleep Cycle.

No twists. No car chases. No reason to stay awake. But poetic and descriptive. Enough to hold the attention but not too much. Gently rocking people to sleep with my words.

Sleep Cycle is one of the world’s most popular sleeping apps. In 2020, over two million people used the app more than four times a week.

Below is an excerpt from my story “Floating Under Stars”. Following a slow, meditative build up, the story starts:

It doesn’t really matter where I was at the time. Except that the air was warm and balmy against my skin. And I was there alone or, more precisely, a solo member of a group. We, my travelling party and me, had been trekking for five days through the forest and arrived to board our sleeper boat, just as birds gathered in the trees to harmonize their evening chorus.
